Box Top$ Collection

Send in your BOX Tops!
It is time for the 2nd  Big Box Top collection of the year! Please send in your box tops in envelope marked as such.
The next collection deadline is Friday February 20th.  This allows them to get collected, counted and sorted in time for Laura Scholles to send them to Box Top Headquarters.

In the fall, we earned almost $600 from our collection. Good job Maple Dale families!

Save Your Unwanted Books!

Save your gently used books for this year's "Book Swap".  Your kids will be bringing in their old books and be able to pick out a couple of books "new to them".   The event will be Friday April 24th.  More details to come.

Family Fun Night Hits Record Attendance

Maple Dale students, families, and teachers had a great time at Family Fun Night on Sunday, February 8, at Castle Skateland. We had a whopping 413 people in attendance; that’s close to 100 additional attendees as compared to last year! Co-chairs Meredith Towbin and Karen Griffin want to personally thank all the volunteers who helped make the night run so smoothly: Tiesha Frazier, Diane VanderBrink, Kristen Laughlin, Pam McCallen, Kim Bauer, Frank Zhou, Kathy McGrath, and Greta Urbanek. And thanks to everyone who came by and made the night truly epic!

Volunteers Needed:Milers Spring Session

I hope you had a good winter, but I know most of us are looking forward to Spring! And with the warmer temps, we will be starting Maple Dale Milers up again on Wednesday, March 18. The program will run every Wednesday and we found that four volunteers during each shift worked best. If you are able to continue to volunteer, please use this link to our new sign-up genius page to register for any times you would be able to help. As a reminder the two shifts are:
  • Shift 1 - 11:30 - 12:45 (First and Second Grades)
  • Shift 2 - 12:30 - 1:45 (Third and Fourth Grades)
Also, we are looking into setting up a group for Milers to participate in completing their 26th mile during the Flying Pig Marathon weekend.  We are going to offer anyone participating in Milers to take part in the Flying Pig Kids Marathon (26th Mile) Program.  In order to do this we will need volunteers to walk with the students on Saturday, May 2 downtown at the Flying Pig Marathon course.
Here is the link for more details. Flying Pig 26th -mile

At this point, our team is trying to gauge what teacher and parent involvement we can count on.  We would LOVE if 2-3 parents would participate along with the students and teacher volunteers. I will be participating with my son Carson. We know spring can be a crazy season with sports and other activities, but if you are interested and can commit to the Saturday, May 2 date, please let me know

Thank you for all of your help!

After School Enrichment

After School Enrichment classes resume on February 23.
Be sure to inform your child's teacher of their participation in ASE. This is especially important for Kindergarteners who have a bit of history of getting on the bus instead of remembering their ASE class! Be on time for the 5 pm pick up, or 5:30 for the Circus Class.

Message from Nurse for Third Grade Parents- dental programs

An Important message for 3rd grade parents:

A Note from Mrs. Muskal, School Nurse

Our school has agreed to have a dental screening of all 3rd grade students on February 10.  This is part of a research project that is being done across the state to measure the dental health of 3rd grade students.

This screening is different from the other dental programs that we have had at Maple Dale Elementary.  All 3rd graders should have the screening, even if your child receives dental care at your dentist or at school. Please fill out the consent form and return it to school tomorrow.

A dental hygienist will simply take a quick look at your child’s teeth using a plastic mouth mirror.  It takes about a minute.   If you have questions, please call me at 686-1723.

Thank you.

Julie Muskal, RN
