Staff Appreciation Week

This week is Staff Appreciation Week at Maple Dale! Our wonderful staff has spent countless hours with our children, teaching them, guiding them, and caring for them (among other things), so now it’s our turn to give back and say THANK YOU!

The staff will be spoiled this week with different things from the PTO, but some of the most special ones will come from your children. Each day next week, let’s really show our staff how much we appreciate them!

Please let your child know about the schedule:
Tuesday, January 26th – Have your child complete the “My Teacher is Awesome” paper attached here (and a copy should come home in their backpack Monday) and turn it in this day. Maybe consider adding a colorful border as a bonus!
Wednesday, January 27th - Bring in one piece of fruit, granola bar, or other healthy a snack for your teacher.
Thursday, Jan 28th – Bring in a drawing you created just for the teacher/staff member.
Friday, Jan 29th – Wear your teacher’s favorite color (your child will have to ask what it is).
If you’d like to do something else special for your teacher or other staff member, please feel free to do so! Thank you in advance for supporting the staff and helping make them feel special. Montgomery Elementary Out Of This World Carnival

For an out of this world experience, plan to join the fun at Montgomery Elementary's carnival.  

Friday, January 29th from 5:30-9pm 

With food (City BBQ and Jet's Pizza), games, inflatables, basket raffles, silent auction and split-the-pot, Carnival has something for everyone. 

 

Come for an hour, stay for the night.  

Weekly Reading Buddies

We are looking to find volunteers that would be willing to come in 1 or 2 times each week for 30 minutes at a time. You would be working with a child on their reading and/or sight word flash cards.  You would be reading with the same child each week to build that mentor/buddy relationship.  We have many students that would benefit from this reading buddy relationship if you are free for more than 30 minutes each week don't hesitate to ask for two! Weekly Reading Volunteers/Tutors

The teachers at Maple Dale would love to find volunteers who would be willing to tutor a child weekly with their reading.   You would work with the same child every week, for 30 minutes or so.  If this is of interest to you, please contact Natalie Wade at waden@sycamoreschools.org.

Carnival

The Maple Dale carnival is coming April 29th, and now is the time to solicit items for our Bid N Buy!  Do you know a business owner that would be willing to donate a gift certificate?  Do you have a beautiful piece of artwork sitting in your storage room looking for a new home?  Please start setting new items aside for the bid n buy.  We are also looking for people to help solicit items from local businesses, and we need someone to help coordinate the solicitations.  If any of this sounds fun to you, please contact Dawn Thaman at ddthaman@gmail.com or 266-6761.

Evening PTO Meeting in February

 

Our February 11th PTO meeting will be held in the evening, at 7pm.  Babysitting will be provided.  We welcome the Blue Ash Library Children's Librarian Sam Bloom.  Mr. Sam will be sharing with us some of the many resources and programs that the Blue Ash library offers, including some information about the downtown library's "Maker Space".  Additionally, he'll provide us with a list of his favorite book picks for different ages.  Join us for an informative overview from Mr. Sam, as well as information on what's happening at Maple Dale presented by Mr. Brooks, Mrs. Reinke, and the PTO Board.

Pipkins Receipts & Boxtops

   

Please remember to save your Pipkins receipts and send them in, as well as your Boxtops.  Both can be sent in any time, with a note on the envelope indicating what it is.  Thanks for helping our school with these easy initiatives.
