THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
Just one more word of thanks to all the parent volunteers who have helped make Maple Dale a great school for our children this year! So many of you, in so many ways, have enriched the school with your volunteer efforts. THANK YOU!!!
Why I Volunteer
It’s not for the money, nor for the fame.
It's not for any personal gain.
It's just for the love of fellow man.
It's just to lend a helping hand.
It's just to give a little of self,
that's something you can't buy with wealth.
It's not for the medals won with pride.
It's just for the feeling deep inside.
It's your reward deep in your heart.
It's the feeling you have been a part
of helping others far and near,
that makes you want to
VOLUNTEER!
Many thanks for all you’ve done for our school!
I would also like to say a special word of thanks to this year's PTO Board members. The position of Board member brings with it a responsibility of "doing the right thing" for the school in terms of expenditures within the budget and making sure the programs run smoothly. Board members spend a lot of time behind the scenes with planning, correspondence, and attending meetings, so a giant THANK YOU is in order for them!
Kari Crusius, our Treasurer, spent countless hours this year improving our processes with her development of the Transaction Center. She has truly been a huge force of positive change this year!! Kari has served on the Board the past 2 years as Treasurer, and will be moving into the role of Vice President of Progams.
Kassi Eckert, as Vice President of Programs this year, has been a positive energy at all times. She brings her great, positive attitude to our Board with every interaction. Kassi has served on the Board the last 4 years, and will be PTO President next year.
Jean Phillips, our Vice President of Fundraising, has helped our PTO bring in record amounts of money this year. She always has an insightful, thoughtful viewpoint. Jean has been on the Board for 2 years, and is stepping down from the Board next year, during her last year at Maple Dale.
Brian Gath, our Secretary, also brought to the Board thoughtful viewpoints, and a "can do" attitude. He will be serving again as Secretary next year.
Thank you again, everyone, for all your efforts this year with the PTO!!! It's been a great year at Maple Dale!
Pam McCallen, outgoing PTO President

Chair Positions for next year - Volunteers still needed
There are still a few open chair positions for next year. Please contact Kassi at kleckert@cinci.rr.com if you are interested in any of these:
Carnival Chair – This is our biggest fundraising project of the year. You will manage the project, to make sure all the chairs have all the resources they need. Manage the timeline, set meeting dates, work with school administration and PTO Board to make decisions and manage the project. Jan-April
Carnival Bid and Buy – For the detail-oriented, you will organize all of our donations into baskets, make bid sheets, compile a promotional document with basket information. A good job for a part-time working parent, or stay-at-home parent. Most work will happen Feb-April.
Carnival Auction Solicitor – Solicit donations from companies around Cincinnati for the bid and buy. Update an online spreadsheet with the information on companies you have contacted. Jan-April
Carnival PR/Posters/advertising – Write articles for the blog about carnival needs, create posters/thank you’s to hang at carnival thanking donors, send thank you’s to donors after the event. Feb-April
Carnival Great Gatherings – Write articles for blog + email parents soliciting great gathering hosts. Work with hosts to determine date, time, cost, # of attendees. Make display & bid sheets for great gatherings. Feb-April
4th Grade Rep at Greene – Help recruit some 4th grade parent volunteers for the following school year at Greene. Apr-May
Milers – A great spot for a parent who is excited about fitness! You can be behind the scenes, helping organize volunteers or track kids’ miles on spreadsheets. Or, help manage the whole process by co-chairing with Diane Vanderbrink. All year.
Display Case – Keep the display cases updated with current event info or general decorations throughout the year.
Grounds/Seasonal Decorations – Keep the school looking fun by decorating the front doors and/or front walkway area throughout the year.
Book Swap - Organize the volunteers for this event where we collect used books from our students and then let them choose a "new to them" book. May
Green Team Signs
Did you know that Maple Dale was built with many environmentally friendly features? Maple Dale's Green Team, along with the architect of the building, Christie Boron, has been working all year to develop signage that explains these features in language that kids can understand. We are hopeful that your children will learn a few things about sustainability, recycling, geothermal wells, and many other items by reading these signs. Take a walk around Maple Dale next time you're there, and look for the signs scattered throughout the building! Next week, a large map of the school will be placed on the wall by the water fountains, which will detail where the various signs are located. Thanks to Anne Berg for leading this initiative with countless calls and emails with the architect! Congratulations and thanks to the Maple Dale Green Team of Anne Berg, Pam McCallen, and Jean Phillips for the hours you spent on this initiative, developing kid-friendly language and seeing your vision completed!
If you are interested in joining the Maple Dale Green Team next year, please contact Anne Berg at anneeberg@gmail.com.
Milers - THANK YOU!
A big THANK YOU to all the Milers volunteers this past year! This PTO- sponsored program runs for 20 weeks of the school year and would not be possible without the generous time of our parent volunteers on Wednesdays during the Fall and Spring sessions. Current kindergartners can participate next Fall!
Lisa Skinner, Mandy & Jonathan Friend, Carrie Dippold, Courtney Simon, Larry Riemann, Kristen Laughlin, Vivian Kuethe, Amanda Hughes, Becky Novotni, Pam McCallen, Emily Lemmons, Meredith Wright, Brian Monk, Gretchen Suarez, Kassy Eckert, Jill Scholle.
And especially Rachel Namaky- our volunteer coordinator & 26th Mile coordinator and Alpa Sawnini- for data entry!
If interested in helping with one of these roles please contact Diane VanderBrink dvanderbrink@yahoo.com

Book Swap - Thanks!
Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's Book Swap a success! Over 1,200 used books were collected making it possible for every student to select two books to keep as their own. Students were enthusiastic about picking out books new to them and sharing memories from past Book Swap events. Parents and teachers send a special thank you to Mr. Brooks for introducing the concept to Maple Dale 14 years ago. His efforts have put over 15,000 books in the hands of young readers. Happy reading to all this summer!
